Sproutly introduces Living NFTs, digital trees that grow, evolve, and gain value based on real-world ecological progress and community interaction. Each NFTree is linked to a verifiable agroforestry system and designed to reflect not just environmental data, but also the user's long-term care, engagement, and regenerative choices.

Verified Growth, On-Chain

All NFTrees are backed by scientifically validated agroforestry systems. Starting in Q3 2025, Sproutly updates each NFTree annually with:

• Verified CO₂ absorption data

• Soil and biodiversity metrics

• Field & satellite validation

• Registry-backed audit trails

These updates:

• Evolve metadata

• Trigger visual transformation (e.g., sapling → full canopy)

• Add real-world credibility to digital ownership

All trees are standardised to reflect an average of 150 kg of CO₂ captured per year, ensuring scientific traceability across the system.

Tree Categories: Value Through Diversity

While all NFTrees begin as Community Trees, some evolve over time into higher-tier trees based on care, composting, and plot performance. These categories come with distinct visuals and $aCO₂ yields:

The remaining 25 $aCO₂ from each Community Tree is redirected to a CO₂ Bonus Pool, from which higher-tier trees are rewarded, preserving a uniform base yield while enabling value differentiation. Sproutly will also use some additional $aCO2 for extra rewards that might be needed.

The Virtualiser Layer

All NFTree upgrades and visual transformations are managed by the Virtualiser, a smart contract system that:

• Applies annual updates based on verified metrics

• Manages tree evolution visuals and metadata

• Triggers new states or traits over time (e.g., “Biodiversity Verified”)

• Integrates with compost mechanics and community contribution data

Nutrient Layer: $COMPOST as a Growth Catalyst

Sproutly introduces $COMPOST, an ERC-20 token used to simulate tree care and stewardship. Applying compost periodically increases a tree’s chance to evolve into a higher tier.

How $COMPOST Works:

• Earned through:

  • Long-term NFTree staking

  • Referral & social campaigns

  • Galxe/TaskOn Guild-style quests

  • Partner airdrops or events

• Tradeable and displayed in the user’s wallet

• Can be applied to trees once per season (e.g. quarterly)

• The goal is to enable composting to remain budget-neutral. Every user will receive a sufficient amount of $COMPOST tokens, provided they are actively engaged within the Sproutly ecosystem.

Effects:

• Each application triggers a growth role based on:

  • Tree age

  • Plot type

  • Staking history

  • Compost amount used

• Increased likelihood of tier upgrades:

  • From Community → Biodiverse Grove

  • From Biodiverse → Deep Forest

  • To Guardian (very rare, compost required)

Composting does not guarantee upgrades, but rewards consistent care. Traits like “Tended Tree” or soulbound badges may also be unlocked after multiple applications.

Migration of Legacy NFTrees (Polygon & Moonbeam)

Owners of existing NFTrees originally minted on Polygon or Moonbeam will be given the choice to upgrade their trees into the new Living NFT system. This optional upgrade unlocks access to the full set of dynamic features, including $COMPOST-based evolution, visual upgrades, tier progression, and enhanced $aCO₂ yield based on engagement and care.

For those who prefer to keep their legacy trees as-is, no action is required. These NFTrees will remain valid and continue to generate 175 kg of $aCO₂ per year, based on their standard lifecycle. Owners can switch to the Living NFT format at any time via the migration portal, with no loss of CO₂ rewards or traceability.
